How to avoid expiry losses in an agro shop
Expired stock is a direct loss. Six simple ways to avoid it.
1. Write the batch and expiry when goods arrive
Record the batch number and expiry date of every lot the same day.
2. Sell the older batch first
Bill the batch that expires first.
3. Look at the expiry list often
Keep a list of stock that will expire in 1, 3 or 12 months and act on it.
4. Watch slow-moving stock
Try to sell slow stock early, and tell farmers about it.
5. Ask the supplier about returns early
Some companies have terms for returning or exchanging stock close to expiry. This depends on the company, so ask in advance.
6. Do not over-stock
Buy according to the season.
